We
have chosen to use Crest toothpaste (for kids) as our product for this project. We feel it has an
important place in the market and in the world in general. This product falls
into the Healthcare product category and can be further classified into an oral
hygiene category. With this product we want to be able to provide a better
oral hygiene product at a lower cost while also superseding any quality that
our competitors may have in their products. The main competition in the marketplace is Colgate, Oral-B, and Sensodyne.
Children
are the future, and it is important to make sure that they are taken
care of and given quality healthcare products. We recognize that parents want the best for their children
and it is no secret that parents are the ones buying toothpaste and
toothbrushes for their children. This is why we are going to aim our marketing campaign
towards parents but also make the product likable by children. Many children
growing up do not enjoy brushing their teeth so we think it is important to
make the toothpaste something that the children will actually want to taste.
The
first step in creating our marketing plan will be to figure out what flavors
children enjoy and what times would be optimal for selling a product directed
at children. Based off of preliminary research toothpaste sales tend
to rise significantly during the annual holidays such as Halloween, Easter, Christmas and
Valentine’s Day. We aim to use this to our advantage and provide a product
with a wide variety of factors that make it better than the competition. We want parents to
feel comfortable that their children’s oral hygiene is being taken care of
while providing something that children will enjoy using. We recognize that
some people have sensitive teeth and gums so we will make the toothpaste so
that it accomplishes the same thing that Sensodyne does, but also provides a
better cleaning than that of the competition.
I think that this looks great and is ready to be sent to the professor to confirm our marketing plan objective. Good stuff man, good work.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you all have a wonderful, well thought out proposal. In my own experience as a patient, I often wondered why the only choice for toothpaste or the formulas used to polish your teeth by the Dental Hygienist was either mint or plain. It would be great to have a banana, strawberry or even chocolate flavor. Might as well enjoy the cleaning/toothbrushing experience...right? Good luck on your Marketing Plan.
ReplyDeleteThat's a really great observation. Most people don't enjoy going to the dentist, and will some times associate mint flavor toothpaste/mouth wash with a bad experience at the dentist. It would be great to give this type of consumer more of a choice when it comes to dental hygiene and flavor
DeleteGreat first step, right to the point. Great job. This will be an interesting project.
ReplyDeleteits really good. I think we can do research to see what kind of toothpaste our competitors are selling the most and use that information in our advantage. And we have to see if the parents mostly care about the taste of the toothpaste or the performance of it.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! Kids dislike brushing their teeth and I think coming up with new packaging and flavors ideas will attract kids once their parents walk them through the toothbrush/toothpaste aisle. The packaging and bright colors will help catch kids attention, and maybe a mini gift should be included as well.
ReplyDeleteThe Idea is good! I think it will have a great market since many parents are willing to spend money on their children. And, I like the idea that you add different flavors on the product. Children may not resists to use the product if the flavor is good. You may consider to add a cartoon pattern on the product box or even on the toothpaste, such as Hallo Kitty, Transformer, or Santa Clause.
